letters from dickinson to kate anthon

Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 222

MANUSCRIPT: missing. The text is from a transcript (HCL) made by Mrs. Anthon for Susan Dickinson. Mrs. Anthon made another transcript (AC) for Mrs. Todd. There are slight variations in punctuation.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 148-149; LL 212-213; L (1931) 145-146.

After Campbell Turner's death in 1857 his widow reverted to her maiden name, and ED seems to have been previously unaware that Kate Scott had been married. Frank Gilbert had been visiting his sister Susan Dickinson on some occasion during the winter here recalled.
