Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 14

MANUSCRIPT: missing. See note 3 in "Notes on the Present Text." All of the letter above the first signature has been published; all below it is unpublished.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 24-25; LL 120-121; L (1931) 20-21, date (presumably by ED): Sabbath Eve, 1846.

Elizabeth Adams, recently made preceptress of Amherst Academy, remained only untile March 1847 (see letter no. 15). Leonard Humphrey, just out of college, was principal for this one year only.

It is probable that the first paragraph of the unpublished section is a concluding section preceding "Write soon. Your affectionate Emily E.D.," and that the remainder is a postscript.
