MANUSCRIPT: AC. Pencil. The envelope is franked by Edward Dickinson M.C., but addressed in ED's hand: William Austin Dickinson./Law School/Cambridge/Mass. Postmarked: Amherst Ms Dec 27.

Enclosed is a prescription for glycerin and water, one part to three parts (ounces), on which ED has written: "Mr Burnett, 22. Tremont row. Please send twice the amount prescribed."

ED's "medicine" is a simple skin lotion, prescribed even today for rough or chapped hands.
