Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 19

MANUSCRIPT: AC. Ink. Dated: Saturday. P.M. Envelope addressed: Austin. W. Dickinson./Amherst./Mass. Per Mr Colton.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 70, in part; L (1931) 68, in part; Home 74, entire.

The Reverend Mr. Aaron Colton had been pastor of the First Church since 1840. Mary Snell, about the age of ED, was a daughter of Ebenezer S. Snell, professor of mathematics of Amherst College. The wafers which ED enclosed were probably similar to those mentioned in letter no. 13.
