An account of the aurora borealis was published in the Hampshire Franklin Express on 3 October. Each of the two Howland brothers, William and George, was for a time a special friend of Lavinia's. Emeline Kellogg and Henry Nash were married four years later. Samuel Kingsbury died, September 27, aged 88. On Jane Grout, see letter no. 60.
