Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 75

MANUSCRIPT: HCL (B 171). Ink.

PUBLICATION: LL 82, in part.

Dream Life, by Ik Marvel (Donald G. Mitchell), was published in December 1851. Mrs. Bianchi said (in LL) that this letter was written after receiving a copy of the book from Austin. The location of the copy, if it survives, is not known. For an identification of Washburn, see Appendix 1. In her scripture allusion, ED combined the translation of Enoch with that of Elijah: ". . . behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, . . . and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven" (2 Kings 2.11).
