letters from dickinson to bowles

Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 247

MANUSCRIPT: AC. Ink.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 199; LL 226; L (1931) 190.

If ED is literal in her time reckoning, she wrote this letter on Saturday, January 11. The Bowleses were still in New York. The opening paragraphs suggests that she enclosed a poem, perhaps one intended to reveal something of a personal nature.
