Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 1048

MANUSCRIPT: Currier. Pencil.

PUBLICATION: Boston Cooking-School Magazine XI (June-July) No. 1, 1906; Mount Holyoke News, 9 November 1929; Boston Transcript, 9 November 1929.

ED entered this quatrain in one of her packets (see Poems 1955, no. 864, where it is dated 1864). This and the packet copy are identical, except that no punctuation concludes line 2 in the packet copy. The poem was probably created for this occasion.
