letters from dickinson to elizabeth dickinson currier

about 1858

I send a Violet, for Libby. I should have sent a stem, but was overtaken by snow drifts. I regret deeply, not to add a Butterfly, but have lost my Hat, which precludes my catching one. Shall send "Little Jennie" as soon as I know where the Owner is. Am much ashamed to have kept it so long.

Emily.
