Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 980

MANUSCRIPT: missing.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 421; L (1931) 410.

Mrs. Todd dated the letter 1885. Mrs. Field had evidently sent a spray of azaleas to ED, who returned the kindness by sending Mrs. Field a daphne, the flower which ED elsewhere speaks of as being her earliest.
