Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 533

MANUSCRIPT: BPL (Higg 105). Pencil.

PUBLICATION: AM LXVIII (October 1891) 455; L (1894) 327; LL 306; L (1931) 309.

On 11 February 1877 Nora Green sang the Twenty-Third Psalm in church for Mr. Jenkins's farewell sermon. Lavinia heard her. ED was so impressed by the account that she asked to hear it. With her brother and sister, Miss Green sang it in the Dickinson drawingroom while ED and Lavinia listened upstairs. ED came down and greeted them afterward as reported by Clara Bellinger Green, Bookman LX (November 1924) 291.
