Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 804

MANUSCRIPT: AC. Pencil.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 356, in part; LL 355-356, in part; L (1931) 348-349, entire.

Wadsworth's last volume of sermons, proofread by himself, with preface dated March 1882, was posthumously published. This letter acknowledges a copy of them or of a printed memorial of Wadsworth, which Clark had sent. Professor Paul A. Chadbourne of Williams College became president of Massachusetts Agricultural College in 1866. He was a Williams classmate (1848) of Clark's. Ill health forced his resignation in 1867, but he was again elected in 1882. He died, 23 Feburary 1883. The scripture quotation is from Revelation 19.11.
