MANUSCRIPT: AC. Pencil. Envelope addressed by Lavinia.

PUBLICATION: L (1931) 425-426.

This letter was accompanied by one from Lavinia. Mrs. Todd dated the letter, 1 December 1884 and said it was written to thank the Loomises for a copy of The Story of Ida. Written by Francesca Alexander, it was published in 1883, with a preface by Ruskin. It is the personal account of a saintly young girl in Florence, known to the author. The copy in the Dickinson collection (HCL) bears the autograph signature of Susan Dickinson.
