letters from dickinson to the montagues

Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 716

MANUSCRIPT: missing. Unpublished.

The text (AC) has the same provenance as letter no. 713. It is dated "August 4, 1881." The letter enclosed to be addressed to Judge Lord is not identifiable. That for Mrs. Bowles is missing, but elicited a reply to which no. 724 is an answer. The "Cloudy Man" is the "new Black Man" of letter no. 721.
