letters from dickinson to ned dickinson

March 1877

Dear Ned -

I send you a Portrait of the Parish, and the first Sugar - Dont bite the Parish, by mistake, though you may be tempted -

A Field of Stubble, lying sere
Beneath the second Sun -
It's Toils to Brindled People thurst -
It's Triumphs - to the Bin -
Accosted by a timid Bird
Irresolute of Alms -
Is often seen - but seldom felt,
On our New England Farms -

I rejoice you are better -

Grandma's fervent love -

Emily.
