letters from dickinson to samuel bowles (the younger)

Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 865

MANUSCRIPT: AC. Pencil.

PUBLICATION: L (1931) 415.

The recipient of this letter is not known. The handwriting is almost certainly late 1883. No other relationship of son and mother, in ED's associations, suggests itself except that with Bowles. Her signature here is that she used to him. The tone of the message is one she adopted for those about to be married.
