Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 981

MANUSCRIPT: AC. Pencil.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 390; LL 370; L (1931) 379.

The date is conjectured from the handwriting. Easter in 1885 fell on 5 April. Perhaps Mrs. Tuckerman was convalescing from illness. Selah is a biblical term, indicating a musical interlude or pause. Here it seems to be connected to the caw.
