Thomas Johnson's Note on Letter 948

MANUSCRIPT: missing.

PUBLICATION: L (1894) 345-346; LL 346-347: L (1931) 333-334.

Austin evidently had brought Salvini's autobiography, published in 1883: Leaves from the Autobiography of Tommaso Salvini. Maria Whitney is returning from her summer in the Adirondacks. The same Bronte lines are quoted in the letter to Mrs. Mack (see letter no. 940).
