Please ignore the e-mail I just mailed, prematurely.  I violate every sensible
rule about keeping my computer space neat.  A falling book can cause me to
reach hastily and accidentally hit the wrong button.  I should change my
behavior if only to help my grandsons avoid my habits.

One citation of the source of the square photo is found in Richard B. Sewall,
The Life of Emily Dickinson, Harvard, 1974.  Sewall uses the picture on both
the cover of the paperback edition (1997), and as frontispiece.  His
attribution:  "Frontispiece.  Emily Dickinson.  From the daguerrotype (3 1/8"
x 2 1/4") Amherst College Library.  [Courtesy of the Trustees of Amherst
College]"
