  to reserve her place in the old family pew near the
pulpit but reserving the right to turn and face
her singing comrades -- She accomplished this in
the face of the whole congregation till she passed
on to heavenly choirs -- The organ! How it was
resisted and deplored! "It was a step towards
Romanism" -- it was a wicked outlay of money --
Deacon L -- altho very musical objected stoutly
because it made his wife's head ache and the
organist was a young handsome girl -- sins
easily outgrown -- Later when Dr Parkhurst
was in college and took the place his
strong sympathetic playing (renderings) con-
verted all souls to the new heavenly aid --
