He came in yesterday under pretense of seeing
L. whom he had just left in the church -
He is almost grotesquely homely, but at
times his face shows so much feeling and
his color changes so rapidly that I could
see a little how he might be interesting
in a friend-ship - He colored when he asked for
you - said he had never shown. or spoken of
"In Absence" and never should. I think he has
been afraid to come in before - he seemed glad
[?] and [?]
