STATIUS AMONG THE SHADES -- Edward Foster

Last night the food was set.
All things were washed.
The room, I thought, had lost
its age. I waited,
then went for a walk.
No poems, poets met me there.

    Today we keep it simple
    He's at work. I watch the children
    in the park below. All color
    every morning still is amber, red.
