Title

Old Sayings -- Reesom Haile, translated by Charles Cantalupo
Think about doing the right thing
And the words
"There is an old saying..."
Offer a little wisdom
That's been forgotten
Or lost in some elder's head.

An old crow says to his son,
"We crows have a saying:
Trust a man until he bends
To pick up a stone."

But the young crow answers back,
"Why wait until he bends?
What if the man has a rock
in his pocket?"

Stumped, the old crow caws,
"I've never heard such notions.
What is the world coming to?"
