They saw Christ suckling the dogs. They saw a void in the heart's place. They saw a heap of hay, a Dumbo's ear, an ox's tail, a grain of cooking salt, a hangar, a telescope. They saw a battle angels and demons in the depths of a tank. And then the rains came, the rains. Obstinate. Sharp. Intermittent. Impatience's nails tapping on the glass. The hours' teeth sputtering the rosary of tedium.
