PUBLICATION: L (1931) 303.

Higginson's first book was Outdoor Papers (1863), containing "April Days," "My Outdoor Study," "Water Lilies," "The Life of Birds," and "The Procession of Flowers." The quotation in the second sentence is from John 3.6 (see letter no. 558). The lines quoted in the poem are from 2 Corinthians 5.1 (see letters no. 180, 182 and 866).
