PUBLICATION: L (1894) 162; LL 189; L (1931) 159; LH 35: dated (presumably by ED): January 2d.

The first chapter of Holland's History of Western Massachusetts appeared in the Springfield Republican on 2 January 1854. The History ran serially in weekly installments, and was published in book form in 1855. Mrs. Todd's note reads: "Enclosing some leaves, 1854."
