PUBLICATION: L (1894) 155-157; LL 184-185; L (1931) 155-156; LH 42-44, dated (presumably by ED): Friday Evening.

The occasion for the visit may have been the flower show that was held in Springfield on Tuesday, 19 September 1854. The Springfield Republican for Wednesday of that week reported that an unusual number of visitors had come to town to attend the show.
