Mrs. Holland had sent photographs of her son Theodore, and her two sons-in-law. Ted, graduated from Yale in June 1882, was attending Columbia Law School. "Nothing is here for tears," relating to Samson's death, is from Milton's Samson Agonistes (line 1721).
