letters from dickinson to samuel bowles (the younger)

early autumn 1883

Dear friend,

There is more than one "Deluge," though but one is recorded, that the duplicate of the "Dove," hallows your own Heart. I had feared that the Angel with the Sword would dissuade you from Eden, but rejoice that it only ushered you. "Every several Gate is of one Pearl."

Morning is due to all -
To some - the Night -
To an imperial few -
The Auroral Light.

Reverently,

E. Dickinson.
