Watching with the sick as I look
back for[?] was held too natural
a duty to even speak of - young and
old took the place of night watchers
in sick emergencies - Quite early in
life I showed a knack with the sick
and tried it somewhat enthusiastically --
A night of length and stillness
in the sick room of Mrs. Moore
widow of the first Pres of Am Coll
his/he's but like a steel-plate engraving
in my memory - She lived in what
came to be known as the Bentley
House but then the President's house
In the manner of the time four square
rooms and a wide long hall un-
warmed & uncarpeted was the
