late 1850s

fine note paper, gilt-edged, blue-ruled

watermark/embossment: FNP, embossed

17 x 10.5 cm.

folded in thirds

SH 86. Torn on the edge. Pinholes on top. Dashes more exaggerated, scooped (as in that after "Like you - " in "Master" letter). The cross of the "T" in the last line almost underlines "my" in line preceding. Instead of "Thine," ED first wrote "Thy pe," changed "Thy" to "Thine," and crossed out "pe."
