Correspondence with Susan Dickinson

late 1885

pencil, two leaves

20 x 13 cm.

folded in thirds

FF 269. Paste marks. Note from Susan on blue-ruled notebook paper says, "Signature Taken out to give a begging friend." Higginson, it should be noted, also gave out Dickinson holographs as souvenirs. For example, her first letter to him and the enclosed poems are housed both in the Boston Public Library and the Houghton because he gave copies of Dickinson's writings to some correspondents.
