FF 182-184, in part. Faint lines across text. "S's" in "confess" in third paragraph are
calligraphically animated, and appear to be walking tall and winking; "g's" in "ugly things"
dramatically underline letters preceding them (see Rowing in Eden 24, 163, 166, 168, 171-172).
Johnson omits the article "a" before "a broken back." He reasonably dates this letter according to
the comment on Mattie's condition and confluences with a contemporaneous letter to Austin (L
72).
