Pencilled lines across final three paragraphs, the dashes of which are also dramatically directed downward. In the sixth paragraph, Johnson mistranscribes "I'd" for "I'll." He also passes along useful biographical information about the comings and goings of the Dickinsons and Sue Gilbert: Dickinson's mother was in Boston visiting Austin, and probably staying with the Norcrosses; Sue was expected in Amherst in early July, while Austin would return at the month's end. Johnson also notes the allusion to Wordsworth's "We Are Seven," adding, "though it is two of the children who are in heaven, not one."
