Mrs. Holland's brother, Charles O. Chapin of Springfield, died, 28 October, in the State House at Boston while serving as a member of the Massachusetts Prison Commission. Kate Holland became engaged to Bleecker Van Wagenen in late September. Judge Lord was an annual August visitor in Amherst; Wadsworth died in April.
